Triple award winning George Best Belfast City Airport

George Best Belfast City Airport is celebrating after winning three prominent awards in the last number of weeks for its ambitious and successful community and employee initiatives.

The airport was named the ‘Right Place to Work’ at the acclaimed Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards, the ‘Responsible Company of the Year 2017’ at the annual Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards and Paula Bittles, Executive Assistant, was crowned the first-ever ‘Unsung Hero’ at the British-Irish Expo Awards.

The success comes just months after the Belfast City Airport’s Community Fund announced it had invested over £330,000 in local projects and groups in the greater Belfast area since its inception in 2009.

Michelle Hatfield, Director of HR and Corporate Responsibility at the airport, said the awards are a testament to their outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility strategy:

“It was an honour to be recognised by three prestigious organisations as a local business that is committed to doing the right thing not just with our employees, but also within the community in which we operate.

“Corporate Responsibility is a key objective at the airport, and one which all employees are dedicated to. Our award-winning Community Commitment Plan helps us to focus on our four core values at the airport – Community, Education, Environment and People, which are at the heart of all operations at the airport.

“Paula Bittles plays a crucial role in our corporate responsibility and community engagement programme, often going beyond the call of duty in providing support and guidance to our community partners. Her award is well deserved and I congratulate Paula on her success.”
